And HOW did you luck into this situation? :P

Now you’ll have the Cletus-Vette and the Cletusiac? What kind of shape is it in? :)

Nice, a tri-power conversion would be neat.

I’ve looked at a map, and it is pretty clear that no one, Oppo or not, is near Coldspring TX. There are some of us in Houston, which is about an hour and a half south, though it’s sprawling enough that someone in the northern suburbs by IAH wouldn’t be so far.

It’s a family heirloom from a relative who owns a ranch. I’m the only guy in the family that likes old cars ergo it goes to me. It was running great and then parked in the early 80's. Hasn’t run in 30 odd years. Body is straight and rust free (thanks Texas) and mechanicals are a complete unknown. Interior is completely fried from 30 years in the Texas sun.

I think Houston might be my best bet. I’m going to fly down there with a tool box and a ton of spare parts on the impossible dream of driving it 5 days north to where I live in Canada.

I’m sure those floor boards are fine.

I expect to see it at Oppomeet 2017.

Now THAT’s the spirit. It’s been sitting since the 80's I think. Luckily, where it sits gets 1.5" of rain per year. It’s in the desert.

Would be a cool (though extremely flat) roadtrip, but of course heavily dependent on that tricky getting it running bit.

I also got an 18' boat in texas I need to bring back so I plan on welding up a hitch and towing it behind the Bonneville

That’s ambitious, but presumably if you get the car running, it can do it.

Ooooh, I did student teaching in Coldspring. Make sure you visit the hangin’ tree, and both the white and black cemeteries.

You think I’m joking. I’m not :/

Really? Maybe that’s not where I thought it was? Coldspring, TX (don’t see any Cold Springs, TX) looks to get around 50" per year.

So...what you are saying, is that you are going to recruit a gang of Opponauts, fly to Texas, Roadkill-ize it into running, then Road-trip it back home......right? Right :O?

Also, I vote Cletusiac is the official name, as it is amusing to say.

65 Bonneville! I love it. My dad had a 66 convertible that my brother wrecked before I got the chance to drive it. I lusted after a 65 Bonney convertible that was local for years and parked in a carport. Finally, the lady called me, when I was about 18. I brought my dad, my brother, and a battery, got the rust hunk running and out of the carport and offered her 100 bucks. She started thinking she had a gem and wanted to bargain. So we rolled it back into the carport and watched it disintegrate for another five years. Then the car disappeared and the house went up for sale. You've got a great project. These are classy, sweet cars. With the 389 they move pretty well also.

I guess you’ll have to choose which bitchin’ junker car (I mean that in the best way possible) to take to the next Oppomeet.
